Canon PowerShot SD750 and SD1000 7.1MP 3x Zoom Digital Cameras

Canon PowerShot SD750Canon USA has announced two new Digital ELPH cameras – the PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH and the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH*. The PowerShot SD750 has a deep silver front marked by a distinctive black lens ring. Both cameras are available in either original silver or dual-tone matte black lens ring and silver body. The PowerShot SD1000 takes the character of the original IXUS and strips it down to produce a mixture of clean, sharp lines and circular accents combined with the slimmest ever Canon zoom body – 3.39 inches long, 2.11 inches high is actually smaller than a deck of playing cards.

*In Europe and Asia the new cameras are branded as the Digital IXUS 75 and Digital IXUS 70, respectively.

Both cameras feature Canon’s new PureColor LCDs that are that are easily visible in brightly lit environments The PowerShot SD750 has an extra large 3-inch LCD screen while the PowerShot SD1000 features a 2.5-inch LCD screen. A new multi-level coating that reduces glare, resists scratches, smudges and fingerprints.

The “brains” of these new cameras is DIGIC III, the newest iteration of Canon’s ultra-efficient image processor. The DIGIC III Image Processor accounts for the camera’s higher performance levels including faster start up, autofocus and shutter response times, improved image quality and more efficient power consumption; resulting in extended battery life under typical shooting conditions.

Canon PowerShot SD1000Face Detection Technology recognizes up to nine faces in the frame and adjusts focus, exposure and flash for optimal results. Red-Eye Correction in playback detects and removes red-eye at the touch of a button. With high sensitivity ISO 1600, users can achieve exceptional results in low light - without the use of a flash.

All Canon PowerShot cameras announced in 2007 are Certified for Windows Vista according to Microsoft standards, without any extra downloads or upgrades. Additionally, all current models are fully compatible with other operating systems including Windows XP and Mac OS X (Versions 10.2 – 10.4).
